DUNQUIN Description

This, the tallest standing stone in Corca Dhuibhne, is situated on the E side of the broad crescent of lowlying land S of Smerwick harbour, in generally poorly drained pastureland at the base of Lateevemore.
The rectilinear block, narrowing to a pointed top on its S side, stands c. 4.75m high and measures a maximum of 1.65m x .8m at base; NE-SW. The depression surrounding the base probably results from its use as a scratching post by cattle.
